A trip to Monte-Carlo

If you are looking for adventure and don't know where to start, then you should probably go to Europe. There are so many incredible places which can make you feel alive. My post is about one of them.

Monte-Carlo or Monaco is a city of luxury. Really! It seems such a different place  from the rest of the world. It looks like the time has stopped for the people who live there. The combination of fancy stores and expensive cars can take your breath away for a second. But not only this makes Monaco special. The nature there is amazing there, or maybe it is the beautiful city that makes it look even better than it is. However, once you get there, you feel wonderful, and you want to come back.

I have been lucky enough to visit Monaco for a couple of times. Every time it was like the first time ( i am serious). Last week we went there to see the Christmas lights and decorations. It was very special and weird at the same time. It was strange to see the decorated Christmas trees near green palms and cactuses. Unfortunately it was rainning, so we were not able to take proper pictures, but no matter how many pictures you take, the original will always be better.

So, if you decide to visit Monaco, here is a list of places which might interest you:

           - The Prince's Palace of Monaco (the official residence of the Prince of Monaco)
           - Monaco Cathedral (where many of the Grimaldis  were buried, including Grace Kelly)
           - Jardin Exotique de Monaco ( a botanical garden located on a cliffside in Monaco)
           - The Casino of Monaco
           - Cafe de Paris Monte - Carlo ( which has an incredible view)

Moreover, here are some interesting facts about the city, which might be helpful in your trip:

  • Monaco is officially called  the Principality of Monaco
  • Monaco has an area of 2.02 km2
  • Population :  about 37,800
  • The House of Grimaldi has ruled Monaco, with brief interruptions, since 1297.
  •  The official language is French, but Monégasque, Italian, and English are also widely spoken and understood.
  • Monaco is not formally a part of the European Union (EU).
  • Monaco uses the euro as its sole currency.
  • It has a hot-summer Mediterranean climate, therefore it has warm, dry summers and mild, rainy winters
  • Since 1929, the Monaco Grand Prix has been held annually in the streets of Monaco.

Before I finish, here are some advice:
             - Find a map of the city, or have a GPS with you ( I always get lost there :) )
             - Dress casual, as you will have to do a lot of walking
             - Never forget where you've parked :)

Well, I guess you are ready to visit Monaco now!!! Have a safe trip, and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did!!!

PS: Due to the fact that we did not take great pictures last time, I have uploaded pictures from all of our trips there.
