Lago di Como

I am inlove with vacations which teach me something, or at least motivate me to come back home and do some research about the things i have seen. This happened again recently when we visited Lago di Como. Yes, the well known Lake which is situated in Lombardia. Although I have heard its name for so many times, I never tried to find more about it. I didn't know  how big  and how far away from Milano it was. Honestly, the only thing I knew about Lago di Como is the wonderful view that surrounds it. And that's it! Well, now I know it has 46km length, and that it is the third-largest lake in Italy.

It did not take us long to decide to go there. It all happened so fast. On Sunday we were booking the room in an agriturismo and on Monday evening we were on our way to Como. They say that spontaneous trips are the most impressive ones. It might be true!

We overnighted in a very special place (see here) high in the mountains, only 8km from Lago di Como. It was a special place, immersed in green and silence. For  people who live near the city, silence is what we need. I liked the dinner at Al-Marnich. The thing that I specifically appreciate was the fact that all the ingredients that they used were grown in their garden. Besides that, they bake absolutely delicious cakes.

The next day we went to explore the Lake. Initially, my husband wanted to take the ferry boat which crosses the whole lake, but this trip was going to take the whole day, and we came there late anyway because the trip usually starts in the early morning. We chose a shorter route instead, and after a couple of stops we came to Belaggio. It is difficult for me to describe the beauty of that place. It is something you have to see with your eyes in order to understand: clean water, colorful houses, historic architecture, elegant boats slipping on the lake. Shortly, i felt like in a  movie.  I also have to point out that there were so many tourists, and that atmosphere made me feel so good. I cannot explain why, but the places full of tourists are my favourite ones. I love to hear different languages being spoke, and to see so many different faces. Well, i guess traveling is my thing!!!

Oliver was the happiest! It was his first trip on a boat, and he seemed to enjoy it. I guess we are rising a little explorer! He was so curious to look at the water, and mountains, lakeside and everything around him. It was rather difficult to put him to sleep. He was also colecting compliments from other people. Oliver is such  lucky baby!!!

I will end my post here, on such a positive thought. I am not sure it convinced you to visit Lago di Como, but I hope you will at least consider it for the future. I am sure you will not regret it!!!

Best wishes to you,
Enjoy the last days of Summer 2018,
Love
A.
