Did you know that? Italy

Hello everyone 😇,

Italy is the country that has adopted us. I have been living here for almost 4 years now. It has its ups and downs but as a grateful daughter, I will not talk about any negative aspect here.

This post is about the interesting facts you probably didn't know about Italy. I didn't know some of them either. And it was fun enough to discover it now.

So here they are! Did you know that:

1. Italy has more volcanoes than any other country in Europe. It hosts all 3 of Europe's active volcanoes;

2. Pizza was invented in Naples. And it has recently become UNESCO's patrimony. Not the pizza as a product but the process of making pizza;

3. Italy is the 5th most visited country in the world. It welcomes around 46 million foreign visitors every year.

4. Italy is the 5th most populous country in Europe;

5. It has more earthquakes than any other country in Europe;

6. Italian is the closest language to Latin;

7. According to Italians, 17 is considered to be an unlucky number. So some hotels don't have  a 17th floor;

8. If you want to wish an Italian "good luck" you can just say "in bocca al lupo" which literary means " into the wolf's mouth";

9. Almost 4/5 of Italy is either mountainous or hilly;

10.  Italians are known for communicating with hand gestures and facial expressions. Also, they are often late;

11. It is estimated that an Italian eats 70 pounds (32 kg) of pasta yearly;

12.  There are over 140 types of pasta. Some of these are only native to specific regions;

13. Italy has one of the lowest birth rates in the entire western world;

14.  Italy was  one of the 8 countries that founded the European Union;

15. The fork was popularized in Italy. It was not a very popular dining utensil until Italians started to use it widely.

Which point is new for you? I know one thing for sure, Italy 🇮🇹 is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. It is unique and special. It is the country of Dante and Leonardo,  the home to so many types of wines, cheeses, and hams. I think it is almost impossible not to fall in love with it!!!

Have you visited Italy already? Let me know what you think about it!!!

See you soon, with a new Did you know that,

Alina
