Breastfeeding: yes or no?

Image
Hello there, future mothers, This post is for you! I thought it would he nice to share with you my breastfeeding experience.  When I found out that I was expecting, i did not have the courage to think more about the way I was going to actually feed the baby. I know it seems silly! I was focused more on the whole process of carrying him! And then, I knew that I would choose to  breastfeed anyway. I really hoped I would be able to do it and that's the main reason i did not spend too much time on researching what formulas were better and why. Due to the fact that I did not have many "mom" friends, I had no idea what breastfeeding meant. I had some basic ideas, and then I heard others experiences and got somehow terrified. You see, the stories that i have heard were not really encouraging. So let me tell you how it went. Baby Oliver was really lazy in the beginning. He would eat for only 2 minutes and then fall asleep. So, the breast pump became my best friend for a cou...

Autumn reflections

Image
Dear friends, It is November, and it is raining cats and dogs here in Italy. While we are warm and cosy at home, there are lots of people who are not that privileged. Unfortunately! But my post will not be about this. I have planned to write about autumn in general. I must confess that when i was younger i hated autumn. It seemed too gloomy, and God knows the autumns in Moldova - too moody. I know that some of you will understand. But again, my post is not about this. The thing that i wanted to point out is the way my attitude towards things has changed in time. Now i see autumn like something beautiful. I have time to stop and look around. I notice the trees which turn slowly from green to yellow or red. I enjoy the fact that we have to change clothes and shoes (a thing that i hated before). I even love the rain, which often ruins our plans. But as long as we don't have anything important to do we can stay home and watch the rain washing the pavement. I love the silence, whi...

#readwithme challenge

Letter to Oliver

Image
Dear baby Oliver, Why do you hurry  to grow up? Don't understand me wrong, I am glad and proud every time you do something new. Your noisy laughter melts my heart. The tender way you look into my eyes is just priceless. When you gently hold my hand it reminds me of all the times I have been thinking of you and waiting for you. Why don't you want to stop the time just for an instance? I wish I could keep the innocence in your eyes forever. I wish I could protect you from the bad. I want to see you growing a strong boy with a loving heart. I don't want you to get hurt in any way! Thank you for making me worth being called a "Mother". You have thaught me what patience is. You also help me understand that not everything should be about me. Your presence in our lives has made us better people. We can talk without saying any words. You are little but your heart is bigger than ours. There is room for everyone! This week you turned 8 months. 8 months of Joy, Love ...

X reasons for why volunteering made me a better person

Image
I have met the term volunteering when I was in the United States, and I had completed my first volunteering hours. It never felt that I was doing something wrong. I knew volunteering was for me from the first experience. After that, when I came back home, everything happened naturally. An impressive number of projects and ideas started to appear in my life. I didn't even have to look for them. Unfortunately there  are people who still don't believe in volunteering - to give your time without being materially rewarded. However I am glad to see that there are more and more young people who want to make a change in their lives, communities and maybe even countries. So every time I was being asked what does it give you? I kept on answering that it is something that brings me joy, self esteem and pride! Besides that, I made up a list of more benefits, and I am sure that many other active volunteers will find themselves in this list. 1. I have met a lot of people. Almost each of...

Our 2nd anniversary

Image
Two years of #manoleteam!!! Two years ago we were so nervous in a very special way. We were worrying about everything! But we were sure that we were doing the right thing. Although today we are married with a baby, we haven't changed that much. This is why  I believe that you do not need a white dress and a black tie in order to celebrate love, but once in a life time you can try it, because it is an incredible experience. And I am glad we chose each other for that. I am not sure what should I write about our wedding. I know as a fact that we liked it very much. Of course, it was not perfect. But we enjoyed every minute of it. We did not have much time to organize everything and did not aim to have the most modern and finest event. We just wanted to get married to each other, to unify our souls forever, and after that to celebrate this moment with our families and friends. There is  a poem which I have found 3 or 4 years ago, when we were still dating. I liked it the...
